The Volyn Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRSSC) has published clarifications for Ukrainians regarding military registration. The focus is on young men born in 2009, who will turn 17 in 2026.

Key deadlines and legislation

According to current legislation, military registration for this age group is mandatory. The official period for the procedure is set from January 1 to July 31, 2026. The department emphasizes that compliance with these timeframes is a strict legal requirement.

Two ways to register

To facilitate citizens, two options for document processing are provided:

  • Personal application. Young men can appear directly at the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center at their place of residence.
  • Remote method. The procedure is possible via electronic identification using the "Reserve+" mobile application. This method allows for the verification of personal data without the need for physical presence at the TRSSC office.

Exceptions and valid reasons

Legislation provides for certain categories of citizens who are exempt from registration. These include persons serving sentences, as well as those to whom compulsory medical measures have been applied.

In the event that a citizen fails to undergo the procedure within the established deadlines, valid reasons may be taken into account. These include:

  • Illness;
  • Force majeure circumstances of a natural nature;
  • Presence in temporarily occupied territories;
  • Being in a combat zone;
  • Other factors objectively preventing appearance or identification.

Liability for missing deadlines

It is important to note that there is no separate special liability specifically for 17-year-old citizens for failure to register for military service. In such situations, the general norms of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses apply, which are in effect for all persons liable for military service.
