A nighttime missile attack by Russian forces on Kyiv resulted in the destruction of a finished goods warehouse belonging to the international tobacco company Philip Morris. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement from Victoria Ilinska, Head of Communications at the company.
Fourth attack on the business
Company representatives noted that this is already the fourth attack on Philip Morris facilities since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Fortunately, there were no casualties among the staff. During the air raid alert, all employees were in shelter, strictly adhering to safety protocols.
Currently, specialists are assessing the extent of the damage and continuing work to eliminate the consequences of the incident.
Diversification as protection
Representatives of Philip Morris emphasized that they were prepared for such developments in wartime conditions. The company had previously diversified its logistics network, allowing it to quickly reconfigure supply chains. According to management, customers will not face disruptions in product deliveries.
«We understood that in the conditions of a full-scale war, such a development of events, unfortunately, was possible. That is why we diversified our logistics network in advance», — the company commented on the situation.
Context of the night attack
On the night of July 8, Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine, using anti-radar and ballistic missiles, as well as attack drones and drone decoys. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 139 drones of various types, however, it was not possible to avoid hits.
In particular, Kyiv endured another missile attack. As a result of the shelling, fires broke out in two districts of the capital, and there is also information about casualties. Photos of the aftermath of the strike on the Philip Morris warehouse have already appeared in open sources.
