Ukraine has officially unveiled the latest maritime unmanned vehicle, MOBIDIK. Developed by the company "Avarid," this platform is a high-tech vessel capable of carrying long-range missile drones on board. According to the developers, the system is no longer in the prototyping stage: six different modifications of the boat are already successfully performing combat tasks in real-world conditions.
Technical Specifications and Capabilities
The new development demonstrates impressive operational performance. The key advantage of MOBIDIK is its record autonomy, reaching 120 hours without refueling or maintenance. This allows the boat to operate independently of support bases for extended periods.
The range of the unmanned boat is up to 1400 kilometers, opening up wide possibilities for patrolling remote waters. The maximum speed of the vehicle reaches 65 km/h, ensuring high mobility. At the same time, engineers have ensured high seaworthiness: the platform maintains functionality and stability in waves up to 1.2 meters.
Transition to Serial Production
Company management has confirmed that the vessel is a fully functional product. At present, the company has completed the development stage and moved on to codifying technical documentation and launching serial production. Developers have created a lineup of six drone versions adapted for various combat needs and application scenarios.
New Strategies and International Cooperation
The emergence of MOBIDIK fits into Ukraine's overall strategy to change approaches to defending economic interests at sea. The government has launched a large-scale international program, Brave International, which establishes unified rules for the joint creation of weapons with foreign startups. The total budget of the first grant competitions involving developers from NATO countries already exceeds 100 million euros.
Tactics for Detaining the "Shadow Fleet"
In addition to strike missions, new technological solutions are being implemented to combat smuggling. The Main Directorate of Intelligence, together with domestic defense companies, is developing tactics for the use of advanced maritime drones, specifically the Katran model. The new concept proposes a paradigm shift: instead of physically sinking ships, Ukrainian unmanned boats will detect and detain vessels of the Russian "shadow fleet." The goal of such operations is the subsequent legal arrest and confiscation of cargo — oil or grain — for the benefit of the Ukrainian state.
