In the Trostianets urban hromada of the Sumy region, a new system for supplying the population with fuel is being put into operation. In the context of systematic attacks by the Russian Federation, which have damaged stationary infrastructure objects, local authorities have decided to deploy a network of mobile gas stations. This decision aims to guarantee uninterrupted fuel supply for residents.
Adapting Infrastructure to Attacks
According to information from the Trostianets City Council, published by RBC-Ukraine, a number of stationary gas stations within the hromada have sustained damage. To avoid a fuel shortage and prevent residents from being unable to travel, the administration has initiated the creation of a flexible logistics network. Instead of stationary facilities, which are vulnerable to artillery strikes, specialized vehicles equipped for fuel dispensing will come into operation.
"Due to the damage to gas stations within the hromada, a network of mobile points for purchasing fuel for vehicles will be deployed to ensure the population is supplied with fuel," the city council emphasized. This approach allows for minimizing risks: mobile gas stations will not remain in one place for a long time, making it more difficult for the enemy to deliver a targeted strike.
Logistics and Informing Citizens
A key factor in the success of this initiative will be the timely informing of the population. Since fuel sales points will regularly change their location, residents must know exactly where the mobile gas station is located at any given moment. Official data regarding routes and new locations will be published in the Telegram channel "Trostianets City Council / Questions of the City Head".
This measure is part of a broader picture that has emerged in the region. The Sumy region is located in the frontline zone, where the enemy systematically attacks critical infrastructure, including energy facilities and gas stations. As the regional military administration previously reported, a significant portion of gas stations in the region has already been damaged due to regular shelling.
Situation in Other Regions
The problem of the vulnerability of fuel infrastructure is not limited to the Sumy region. Attacks on gas stations are also recorded in other regions of Ukraine. In particular, recently Russian forces conducted a raid on facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in damage to several stations.
Even in regions far from the front line, such as Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the situation remains tense. Due to the constant threat of shelling and missile attacks, a large network of gas stations has been forced to temporarily close some of its stations. The transition to mobile formats or temporary suspension of operations has become a forced necessity to preserve human lives and maintain a minimum necessary level of economic functioning under wartime conditions.
