Mohamadu Kante — The New Symbol of Shakhtar’s Attack: U-19 Record-Breaker Extends Contract Until 2031

Donetsk “Shakhtar” has officially extended the contract of one of the most promising young foreign players in its system — 19-year-old Gambian striker Mohamadu Kante. The parties have signed a new five-year agreement, valid until June 30, 2031. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the club’s official website.

Record-Breaking Season with the Youth Team

Kante joined the “miners” academy in 2024 and immediately announced himself as a talented forward. During the 2025/26 season, he played for Shakhtar U-19, where he not only helped the team win the gold medals of the National League but also set an absolute tournament record.

The Gambian became the top scorer of the championship among under-19 players, scoring 28 goals in 28 matches. One of the brightest episodes of his career was the match against Lviv’s “Karpaty,” where Kante single-handedly decided the outcome of the game, scoring six goals in one match.

From the Gambian Second Division to the Ukrainian Elite

Before moving to Ukraine, Mohamadu Kante played for the club “Wagadu” in the second division of the Gambian championship. In the 2023/24 season, he became the team’s top scorer with nine goals and four assists. His productivity helped “Wagadu” retain their place in the league and attracted the attention of European scouts.

Kante’s height is 183 cm, and his weight is 84 kg. This makes him a powerful and physically developed striker. He is distinguished by his ability to play with his head, high speed, excellent sense of positioning in the penalty area, and the ability to choose the right positions to finish attacks.

Extending the contract with such a young and promising player indicates that the Shakhtar management sees Kante as one of the key players of the future.
