The era of Mohamed Salah in English football is coming to a logical conclusion. The former Liverpool striker has decided on his next career step. The 34-year-old Egyptian winger, currently a free agent, has agreed on personal terms with the Turkish giants — Istanbul's Beşiktaş.
Information about the upcoming transfer was confirmed by Foot Mercato insider Santi Aoun, as reported by RBC-Ukraine. Although Salah left Anfield as a free agent, his move to Turkey will be one of the most significant transfers of the off-season.
Why Turkey, not Saudi Arabia?
After ending his nine-year career with the Merseyside club, the forward had a wide range of options for continuing his career. Wealthy clubs from Saudi Arabia, offering colossal salaries, as well as representatives of the American MLS league, were interested in the star's services. However, Salah decided to remain in European football.
The choice fell on Beşiktaş. Since his contract with Liverpool has expired, the Turkish club will not have to pay any transfer fees, making the deal extremely advantageous for the Istanbul side.
