The investigation into the explosion in an elite district of Monaco has reached a new stage. Law enforcement authorities of the Principality have officially identified the man suspected of planting an explosive device at the home of Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev. The prosecutor's office has already issued an arrest warrant, and an Interpol "Red Notice" will be activated against the fugitive in the near future.
International manhunt and large-scale investigation
The Monaco judicial police quickly identified the identity of the perpetrator. According to sources, on Thursday evening, July 2, the procedure for an international manhunt will be initiated against the suspect. This means that law enforcement agencies in any country in the world are obliged to detain the subject at the first opportunity.
The scale of the criminal proceedings confirms the seriousness of the authorities' intentions. The case has been referred to three investigators for consideration. The investigation is being conducted under serious charges:
- attempted murder and complicity in it;
- intentional placement of an explosive device in a public area with criminal intent;
- creation of a criminal organization.
Chronicle of the tragedy in Le Rocher
The attack took place on Monday evening, June 29, around 21:00. The incident erupted in the prestigious residential district of Le Rocher, where Vadim Ermolaev lives. The perpetrator left a mined bag, known as a "booby-trapped package," at the entrance to the residential building and then quickly fled the scene.
The powerful explosion caused serious consequences for the businessman's family. Vadim Ermolaev suffered extremely severe injuries. His companion was hospitalized in critical condition, and doctors continue to fight for her life. The businessman's 13-year-old son, who suffered less serious injuries, has already been able to give his first testimony to investigators.
