In anticipation of the state holiday in Ukraine, the process of distributing one-time social payments is underway. According to information released by the press service of the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Vinnytsia region, the mechanism for receiving financial assistance for Independence Day in 2026 has already been launched.
The amounts and conditions for these payments were fixed by the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 602 dated May 13, 2026, while the procedure for their implementation was approved back in late 2023 (CMU Resolution No. 1396).
Who will receive money without paperwork
For most recipients of social guarantees, the procedure has been simplified to automation. Financial assistance will be transferred in August, simultaneously with the main pension, housing subsidy, or benefit. This will apply to citizens who are not currently serving in the military and have the appropriate status.
The Pension Fund emphasizes: if you belong to this category, no additional applications or visits to institutions are required. The system will automatically identify the recipient and make the accrual.
Special rules for active military personnel
The situation is different for war veterans who are currently serving in the military. Even if they already receive a pension or benefits, the Independence Day payment will not come to them through the Pension Fund.
Funds will be received through the relevant military unit, i.e., where the person receives their salary. Experts advise veteran servicemen to ensure in advance that their employer (unit command) has up-to-date information about their status so as not to miss the payment.
Who needs to contact the PFU in person
There is a category of citizens who are not entitled to automatic accrual and must initiate the process of receiving funds themselves. You should contact the territorial body of the Pension Fund of Ukraine if:
- You are entitled to the payment but do not receive a pension, subsidy, or benefit;
- You are not serving in the military, but the payments have not arrived automatically.
An application can be submitted in several ways: in person at a branch, through a trusted person, or by mail. Submission via the «Diia» portal is also available.
What is needed for registration
To receive the payment, you must prepare a package of documents. The application should indicate passport details, personal account number, and bank details for the transfer of funds.
Scanned copies (or originals in case of a personal visit) of documents confirming the right to the payment, as well as an identity document, must be attached to the application.
Deadline and payment terms
It is important to consider the timeframes. If a citizen acquired a status entitling them to the payment before August 24, 2026, but as of October 1 the money has not yet been received, they have the right to contact the Pension Fund with a corresponding application. In this case, the payment will be made in the period until November 1, 2026.
