In 2026, the procedure for receiving one-time financial assistance for Independence Day will change in Ukraine. The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) has expanded the list of citizen categories eligible for automatic payments. This means that most Ukrainians entitled to support will not need to personally contact government bodies or fill out additional applications.
Who receives money without applications
According to the Pension Fund press service, automation applies to those who already have a confirmed status as a recipient of assistance. However, for those who are only applying for documents, the procedure remains standard. The application must specify:
- details of the identity document;
- bank account number for the transfer of funds;
- taxpayer identification number (if available);
- details of the certificate entitling the person to the payment.
Deadlines and payment terms
It is important to consider the timeframes for those who acquire the corresponding status in the current year. If a citizen becomes entitled to the payment before August 24, but the money does not arrive automatically, they have the right to contact the Pension Fund authority with an application. In this case, the payment must be made by November 1 of the current year.
Assistance amounts and recipient categories
In May, the Cabinet of Ministers approved specific amounts for one-time assistance. The sums range from 450 to 3100 hryvnias, depending on the recipient category. The main beneficiaries of the program are:
- veterans of the war;
- affected participants of the Revolution of Dignity;
- persons with disabilities due to the war;
- other categories of citizens provided for by legislation.
The main flow of payments is scheduled before August 24 — for the Independence Day holiday itself.
