The High Court of London has issued a ruling that significantly restricts the financial freedom of Ukrainian Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk. The court ordered the freezing of the player's assets totaling 2.5 million pounds sterling and imposed a strict limit on his personal expenses.
Essence of the Legal Proceedings
The initiator of the proceedings was the Cypriot company JJDS Management Limited, which owns 30% of the footballer's commercial rights. The company's founder, Themis Sagirov, claims that in 2023, immediately after the transfer from Donetsk's Shakhtar, Mudryk signed an agreement to transfer rights to advertising and sponsorship contracts. However, according to the plaintiff, since the signing of the agreement, the player has made no payments.
The total amount claimed by the company is about 6 million euros. The proceedings are being conducted in parallel in two jurisdictions: the Cypriot court is considering the issue of lost profits amounting to 2.4 million euros, while the English court is handling claims regarding active advertising agreements totaling 2.8 million dollars.
Strict Restrictions for the Player
In addition to freezing accounts and assets, the High Court of London has established strict personal budget limits for Mudryk. During the further investigation of the case, the winger is allowed to spend no more than 5,000 pounds sterling per week. Furthermore, the footballer is obliged to provide documentary reports on the sources of his income.
Context of Mudryk's Career
Mykhailo Mudryk moved to London's Chelsea in January 2023 from Shakhtar for 70 million euros. During this time, the Ukrainian has played 73 matches for the team, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists. This is not the first legal proceeding involving the player: previously, he lost a case in the football court for a million-dollar sum, which also concerned his transfer to the English club.
