Dynamo Kyiv central defender Taras Mykhavko has learned the disciplinary sanction for the red card he received in the Ukrainian Cup Round of 16 match against Shakhtar Donetsk. The UAF Control and Disciplinary Committee decided to suspend the 21-year-old player for two matches, while also imposing a one-match suspended ban. This was reported by Sport RBC.UA, citing the official FC Dynamo website.
Disciplinary committee decision and club position
According to the UAF disciplinary body's decision, the center-back will miss two matches, with an additional one-game suspension imposed conditionally. It is noteworthy that the Kyiv club insisted on a different punishment scheme — "1+2", meaning one actual match and two suspended. Thus, the committee's final decision proved stricter for the player than what Dynamo was aiming for, and this exact position of the club is reflected in the case files.
What this means for Dynamo before the 'Classic'
The practical result of the decision for the team is clear: after missing the away match against Kryvbas, Mykhavko will not be able to help the team in the next game as well — against Shakhtar. This refers to the "Ukrainian Classic," which will take place as part of the 12th round of the UPL 2026/27 season. The teams will meet on Sunday, November 8, with the match scheduled for 18:00 Kyiv time. For Dynamo, losing a key central defender in such a match becomes a significant squad blow.
Circumstances of the dismissal
Recall that Mykhavko received a red card in the Ukrainian Cup Round of 16 match against Shakhtar, which ended in a 0:3 victory for the visitors. The submission for disciplinary review was related to a swipe during a duel with Shakhtar midfielder Oleh Ocheretko. This specific episode became the basis for referring the case to the UAF Control and Disciplinary Committee and the subsequent sanction.
Other Dynamo losses in the 'Classic'
In addition to Mykhavko, Andriy Yarmolenko, who was sent off in the match against Kryvbas, will also miss the upcoming "Classic." Thus, the Kyiv club approaches the match against Shakhtar without two significant players. It was previously reported that a key Dynamo player had returned from injury just in time for the Shakhtar match, making the current squad situation regarding central defenders and experienced midfielders particularly sensitive for the team before the 12th round of the UPL.
