Ukrainian actress Natalka Denysenko found herself at the center of an unpleasant story involving online fraud. The star admitted that she trusted strangers on social media and lost a large sum of money. Now she is urging her followers to be extremely cautious when making online purchases.
How the actress lost 9,000 hryvnias
According to Denysenko, she was looking for children's uncolored curly hair in Kyiv but could not find the necessary item in regular stores. During her search, she stumbled upon an Instagram page that looked quite legitimate: many followers, positive reviews, active correspondence. The sellers reported that they had found the necessary item and asked for an advance payment.
"I sent them the advance payment — 9,000 hryvnias — and they disappeared, of course," the actress said. Later, she admitted that she made a mistake herself by not checking the sellers thoroughly enough.
Scammers used the star's image
The problems were not limited to just the loss of money. After the scammers disappeared, the actress discovered that her image had been used in online casino advertising. In the fake video, it was made to look as if Denysenko was promoting gambling and talking about her own winnings.
The actress emphasized that she has nothing to do with this advertising and that the video is a complete fabrication. She appealed to her followers to share the contacts of the cyber police in an attempt to recover the funds and stop the use of her image.
Warning for other users
Denysenko noted that the sellers tried every way to instill trust: they claimed to have been working for many years, explained the need for a large advance payment due to delivery specifics, and even promised to return the money if the item did not suit. However, after receiving the funds, contact with them was cut off.
Now the actress has decided not to order goods through unverified pages on social networks anymore. She urges other users to be more attentive and not trust the first sellers they meet, even if their accounts look convincing.
