Ukrainian esports organization NAVI have made a successful start at the prestigious ESL Pro League Season 24 tournament in Katowice. In their opening match of the Swiss stage, Born to Win faced off against a principled opponent in G2 and secured a convincing 2-0 sweep, demonstrating a high level of team preparation and tactical flexibility.

Match Flow: From a Difficult Start on Cache to a Rout on Inferno

The first map of the series was Cache, chosen by NAVI. The start of the match went extremely poorly for the Ukrainian club as they lost the opening five rounds in a row (0:5). However, timely tactical timeouts allowed the team to make necessary adjustments, after which Born to Win turned the tide, finishing the first half in their favor at 7:5. In the second half, G2 failed to mount a comeback, and NAVI confidently closed out the map 13:7. On the second map, Inferno, chosen by the European squad, NAVI's dominance was absolute. Giving up only four rounds throughout the entire map, the Ukrainian five closed it out with a score of 13:4.

Brilliant Performance by w0nderful and the Ukrainian Sniper Duel

The star of the match was Ukrainian sniper Igor “w0nderful” Zhdanov, who delivered outstanding individual statistics. Across the two maps, his stats stood at 33-11 K-D, with an average damage per round (ADR) of 78.1 and an overall rating of 1.48. Special attention from analysts and fans was drawn to the duel between w0nderful and another strong Ukrainian sniper, Artem “r1nkle” Moroz, who plays for G2. Despite the sweeping series score, r1nkle played at a decent level and became the most notable player on his team.

Tournament Standings and a Crucial Match Against Vitality

Thanks to this victory, NAVI placed themselves at a 1-0 record in the ESL Pro League Season 24 Swiss stage. To advance to the coveted playoffs, participants need to secure three wins, while three losses mean elimination from the tournament. In total, eight of the sixteen participants will advance to the next stage. G2 dropped to the 0-1 pool and will continue their battle for survival. On October 4, NAVI will play their second match of the tournament against the formidable Vitality squad, who also started the championship with a victory, presenting a serious test for Born to Win on their path to the trophy.
