The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official foreign exchange rates for Monday, November 9, 2026. Both key currencies — the US dollar and the euro — continued the downward trend against the hryvnia that started in previous trading sessions. According to the regulator, the American currency fell by 12 kopecks, while the European currency dropped by 39 kopecks compared to Friday, November 6. Experts note that overcoming the psychological threshold of 45 hryvnias per dollar is becoming the norm, but rushing into currency purchases at inflated prices is not recommended.

Official dollar and euro rates for November 9

According to the NBU, the official US dollar exchange rate for Monday, November 9, is 45.32 hryvnias. This is 12 kopecks lower than the previous banking day on Friday, November 6, when the rate was 45.44 hryvnias. The euro also lost value: the official rate of the European currency for the beginning of the new week is set at 50.65 hryvnias, which is 39 kopecks less than Friday's figure of 51.04 hryvnias. Thus, both currencies showed a moderate decline in a single day, with the euro falling noticeably more in absolute terms.

The psychological milestone of 45 hryvnias: what changes

Despite the drop in the official rate, the dollar has already crossed the psychological milestone of 45 hryvnias, which was previously perceived as a distinct exchange rate boundary. In a comment to RBC-Ukraine, Taras Lesovoy, Director of the Financial Markets and Investment Department at Globus Bank, explained that overcoming this threshold may gradually reduce citizens' emotional reaction to exchange rate fluctuations. According to him, the figure that used to cause a stir is increasingly becoming a normal part of market dynamics, and Ukrainians should get used to the new exchange rate level.

Weekly forecast: range of 45–45.7 UAH per dollar

Taras Lesovoy also presented a forecast for the period from November 9 to 15: according to his estimate, the dollar exchange rate will remain within 45–45.7 hryvnias, and the euro within the 50–52 hryvnias range. There are currently no grounds for a sharp depreciation of the hryvnia. At the same time, the banker noted that the currency market continues to be influenced by war risks and heightened demand for foreign currency, but nervousness around the rate will gradually ease. For context: last week, on November 2, the official dollar rate was 45.35 hryvnias, and the euro was 50.68 hryvnias, confirming the relative stability of indicators within a narrow corridor.

Is it worth buying currency now

The key advice given by Taras Lesovoy is not to rush into buying dollars at inflated prices. According to him, psychological expectations often prompt people to make unjustified currency purchases just as the rate crosses a round number. Instead, the expert recommends focusing primarily on one's own financial needs and the real situation on the currency market. If purchasing currency is not driven by a specific need — such as paying abroad, traveling, or saving money amid high inflation — it is wiser to wait and monitor the rate dynamics throughout the week.

Exchange rate dynamics over the business week

Tracing the dynamics over the past week, the picture looks as follows. On November 2, the dollar cost 45.35 hryvnias, on November 5 — 45.54 hryvnias, on November 6 — 45.44 hryvnias, and on November 9 — 45.32 hryvnias. The euro over the same period moved from 50.68 to 51.25 and back to 50.65 hryvnias. Both indicators remain in a narrow range, indicating an absence of sharp shock factors on the market. The Polish zloty, which is also tracked by the NBU, stood at 11.62 hryvnias on November 6, confirming the overall trend of moderate hryvnia strengthening against major foreign currencies.
