Since June 4, passengers have had the opportunity to travel between Odesa and Kyiv on modernized electric trains equipped with air conditioning. "Ukrzaliznytsia" has launched a new combined route that includes a transfer in Vinnytsia, but guarantees synchronized schedules — if one train is delayed, the second will wait for the passengers.

Modernized train with air conditioning

Railway workers have completed the modernization of another electric train, which now runs between Odesa and Vinnytsia. The main novelty is the installation of an air conditioning system — this will make trips comfortable even in the summer heat. Previously, a similar updated train was already operating on the Kyiv — Vinnytsia — Khmelnytskyi route.

Now, two modernized trains effectively create a new route between the capital and the southern port city. This is particularly relevant during periods of high demand for tickets, when seats on long-distance trains may be sold out in advance.

Schedule and transfer in Vinnytsia

For those traveling from Odesa to Kyiv:

  • Train No. 840 departs from Odesa at 12:55 and arrives in Vinnytsia at 18:30.
  • Transfer to Train No. 858, which departs at 18:50 and arrives in Kyiv at 22:04.

For the return direction — from Kyiv to Odesa:

  • Train No. 857 departs from Kyiv at 07:02 and arrives in Vinnytsia at 10:32.
  • Transfer to Train No. 839, which departs at 11:08 and arrives in Odesa at 17:01.

Flights are specially coordinated to minimize waiting time and ensure a smooth transition between trains.

How to buy a ticket

Tickets for the new route are already available in the "Ukrzaliznytsia" mobile app. To find a flight with a transfer, you need to select the "with transfers" option when searching for the Kyiv — Odesa or Odesa — Kyiv route.

Carriages with air conditioning are marked with a special "snowflake" in the booking system — this will help passengers immediately choose the most comfortable option.

Context: large-scale modernization of UZ

The launch of this route is part of a broader rolling stock renewal program. Earlier, "Ukrzaliznytsia" reported that it had equipped more than 70% of passenger carriages with air conditioning, prepared more than a thousand carriages for flights, and modernized part of the electric trains.

In the summer, the company also increased the number of daily flights, restored the "Sumy — Rahov" direction and launched an additional train "Kyiv — Chernivtsi". All these measures are aimed at increasing the number of seats on popular routes and giving passengers more opportunities to travel around the country.
