The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has confirmed the introduction of new motivational payments and allowances for military personnel. According to a report by RBC-Ukraine, the key innovation is that these payments are independent of the type of contract signed. Additional funds will be credited to all defenders, regardless of whether they are serving via mobilization, under an old agreement, or have just signed a new contract.
Timelines and Payment Procedures
The new regulations officially came into force on June 1, 2026. This means that all military personnel who carried out combat tasks during the first month of summer will receive recalculated amounts. Payments will be credited along with the main monetary allowance and must be transferred to accounts by July 20.
Special attention has been paid to those who were in the rear in June. For this category, an additional reward of at least 10,000 hryvnias is guaranteed.
Combat Bonuses and Administrative Nuances
The mechanism for paying bonuses for specific combat merits — storming positions, taking the enemy prisoner, or destroying the enemy in close combat — remains unchanged. Such payments are made exclusively on the basis of a commander's order. The standard cycle of the system is preserved: the order is issued for the past month, and the money arrives by the 20th of the following month.
The Ministry of Defense has provided clarifications regarding possible delays. If the order for June was not issued on time due to reasons beyond the soldier's control, the right to receive funds is not annulled. In this case, the amount will be included in the next order and paid later.
Context: New Types of Contracts
The introduction of new payments takes place against the backdrop of the reform of the contract system in the Armed Forces. Recently, the Ministry of Defense approved three types of new contracts: infantry-storming, combat, and basic.
The highest pay is offered for infantry-storming positions. Total income can reach 460,000 hryvnias per month. The structure of such earnings includes a base rate of 20,000 hryvnias and a system of additional payments based on the "10/20/40" principle:
- 10,000 hryvnias for each day spent at positions;
- 20,000 hryvnias for participation in strike-search operations;
- 40,000 hryvnias for participation in storming operations.
Furthermore, military personnel who sign new contracts receive a one-time payment for the first contract, as well as annual assistance for health improvement.
