The updated version of the BMP-3M infantry fighting vehicle was presented at the outdoor area of the "Army-2024" forum in Kubinka. The exhibition demonstrates not just a standard modernization, but the integration of a fundamentally new combat module that changes the tactical appearance of the vehicle.
New Combat Module Architecture
The main feature of the presented model is a completely new turret complex installed on the base of the classic BMP-3. Unlike the standard layout, where the armament is located in a single turret, a remotely controlled module is used here. Two 30mm automatic cannons, as well as guided missile blocks, are installed on the upper platform.
This layout allows the crew to fire from a protected cabin without exposing themselves to direct danger when opening hatches. In addition, powerful optical and thermal imaging sensors are mounted on the module, ensuring target detection at significant distances.
Preservation of the Classic Base
Despite radical changes in the upper part, the chassis and body of the vehicle remain recognizable. The BMP-3M has retained the classic layout for Soviet and Russian armored vehicles, with the engine located at the front and the troop exit at the rear. The track drive and road wheels ensure high mobility across rough terrain.
Special protective screens and elements of dynamic protection are visible on the side of the vehicle, indicating increased survivability in the conditions of modern combat. Additional antennas and communication blocks are also noticeable, indicating integration into modern digital military command networks.
Exhibition Context
The presentation took place within the framework of the international military-technical forum "Army-2024", which traditionally gathers leading weapons manufacturers. Against the backdrop of red flags with the event logo and other samples of equipment, the BMP-3M looks like one of the key exhibits demonstrating the direction of development of the Russian armored school.
It is important to note that other samples of equipment are visible in the background, including self-propelled artillery units and anti-aircraft complexes, which emphasizes a comprehensive approach to the modernization of the armed forces.
