On the night of July 1, the occupied territories of Crimea and Donetsk became the target of a large-scale attack using unmanned aerial vehicles. According to OSINT channels cited by RBC-Ukraine, multiple fires were recorded in the region as a result of the strikes.
Strikes on logistics in Donetsk
The attack on the occupied part of the Donetsk region began around 23:50. According to reports on social media, unidentified drones struck the region. In Donetsk itself, preliminary reports confirmed hits on a parking lot where logistical transport was based. This suggests that the target of the strike could have been supply and cargo transport hubs for the occupying forces.
Fires in the territory of Crimea
Explosions were also heard in Crimea during the night. By the morning of July 1, the NASA FIRMS fire monitoring service recorded a fire north of Feodosia. The fire is located on a section of the E-97 highway, indicating possible damage to transport infrastructure.
Furthermore, a fire broke out on the territory of critically important energy infrastructure. Fires were recorded at the "West Crimea" substation and a mobile gas turbine power plant. Strikes on power grids can cause serious disruptions in electricity supply in the region.
Context of recent operations
These events are taking place against the background of active work by the Ukrainian military to strike targets in Crimea. On June 28, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a successful strike on a railway bridge near the village of Ichok, which the occupiers used to supply their troops.
Previously, on the night of June 25, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck 38 targets in Crimea. These included coastal radar stations, fuel and energy infrastructure objects, and key logistics hubs. The night attacks on July 1 demonstrate the continuation of systematic work to undermine the rear infrastructure of the enemy.
