In the night of June 18, the Poltava region became the target of a large-scale attack by Russian occupiers. Enemy drones struck two districts of the region, hitting both critical infrastructure and residential areas. The consequences of the raid included building damage, power outages, and injuries to civilians.
Strikes on the Poltava district
According to information received from the head of the Poltava regional military administration, Vitaliy Dyakivnych, drones attacked industrial and private enterprises in the Poltava district. As a result of the shelling, an administrative building and technological equipment were damaged.
Particularly concerning is the hit of a UAV on a private residential house. During the incident, one person was injured and urgently hospitalized. The situation in the district is complicated by the fact that the strike also hit an energy infrastructure object. This led to a mass power outage.
Restoration of power supply
Currently, teams of PJSC "Poltavaoblenergo" are actively working to restore power supply for consumers. Specialists are assessing the scale of damage and starting repairs of damaged networks to return electricity to residents' homes as soon as possible.
Consequences in the Myrhorod district
The attack did not bypass the Myrhorod district either. Here, as a result of the fall of a Russian drone, warehouse premises were damaged. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties in this case, however, significant material damage was caused.
Context of night shelling
Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported a series of explosions in the regional center itself — in Poltava. City residents heard at least six powerful explosions. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about missile launches at 1:24, and the military recorded the movement of a group of enemy strike drones towards the region.
It should be noted that the Poltava region was not the only target that night. The Russian army also attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones, where explosions were also heard, demonstrating the scale and coordination of the enemy's actions.
