Occupied Crimea is facing an unprecedented crisis: the peninsula has been almost completely deprived of street lighting. Systematic strikes on energy infrastructure carried out over the past year have plunged the region's night streets into darkness. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Massive Strike on the Power Grid

Analysts emphasize that the campaign to strike energy facilities was conducted consistently and deliberately. The result was not just a local power outage, but a factual collapse of the street lighting system across the entire territory of the peninsula.

Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdy provided details of a large-scale attack carried out on July 3. On this day, Ukrainian military forces struck several critical substations:

  • "Tarkhankut";
  • "Vypasnoye";
  • "Belogorsk";
  • "Saki";
  • "Tavria";
  • "Nikolaevka";
  • "Stary Krym";
  • "Zapadno-Krymskaya".

Among the targets was also the "Klyuchi" gas compressor station. The facts of the strikes are confirmed by independent sources: the NASA FIRMS fire monitoring system recorded thermal anomalies in the areas where the listed facilities are located.

Strikes on Military Infrastructure

Parallel to the destruction of the energy network, Ukrainian forces continue the campaign to strike Russian military and logistical facilities. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed an attack on the railway bridge over the Krasnogvardeysky Canal, as well as strikes on an electronic warfare station in the Artemovka area and an electronic reconnaissance unit in Sevastopol.

Special attention was paid to airbases. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported a repeat strike on the Saki military airfield. As a result of the attack, seven aircraft were damaged, including Su-30SM and Su-30 fighters and Su-24 bombers, as well as seven hangars where they were stationed.

An additional blow was the destruction of two hangars for storing "Shahed" drones at the Gvardiyskoye airfield. Satellite images published on July 3 clearly demonstrate damage to these facilities.

Shift in the Balance of Power in the Black Sea

Against the backdrop of successful operations on land and in the air, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the situation in the region has fundamentally changed. The head of state noted that Russia has effectively lost its advantage in the Black Sea. During a meeting with the military command, a diagram was presented marking the destroyed ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, confirming the effectiveness of Ukrainian countermeasures.
