On the night of November 7, a Russian attack on Kyiv damaged the North Bridge, one of the key crossings over the Dnipro River in the capital. This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, as reported by RBC-Ukraine. According to him, specialists are studying the extent of the damage, and traffic across the bridge is currently completely closed in both directions. The incident has become a new blow to the city's transport infrastructure amid ongoing missile strikes.
Attack Progress and Traffic Consequences
According to Ukrainian sources, the enemy attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles in several waves, and at dawn, according to UNIAN, a jet drone hit the structure of the North Bridge. Shortly before the hit, a yellow-level air raid alert was announced in Kyiv. The Kyiv City Military Administration confirmed the blocking of transport traffic across the bridge: the crossing is closed from the left bank to the right bank, and the road surface and trolleybus contact network were damaged. Because of this, buses No. 21, 73, 101, 114 and trolleybuses No. 29, 30, 31, 47 are delayed, and a significant traffic jam has been recorded from Troieshchyna towards the right bank.
Second Capital Crossing in Recent Weeks
The North Bridge has become the second capital crossing damaged as a result of attacks in recent weeks. On the night of October 27, Russia used ballistic missiles and damaged the South Bridge along with the metro infrastructure running across it; traffic was then also blocked in both directions. According to Air Force Speaker Yuriy Ihnat, several ballistic missiles were fired at the South Bridge, and in total during that attack Russia used 16 Iskander-M or S-400 missiles. Ihnat warned that repairing the bridge deck would take time.
Casualties and Destruction
As a result of the overnight attack in Kyiv, there are casualties. Initially, it was reported about three wounded, including a child; later Mayor Klitschko reported that the number of injured increased to five people, among them a 14-year-old child, and two of the wounded were hospitalized by medics. Destruction of residential buildings was also recorded in the capital. In addition, according to Klitschko, on the night of November 7, the Kyiv region was subjected to a drone attack: in the village of Bohdanivka, Brovary district, a drone hit a private house, leading to destruction and a fire. A married couple was trapped under the rubble — a woman born in 1960 got out on her own, while her husband born in 1951 was unblocked and rescued by State Emergency Service employees.
Energy and Utility Systems
In addition to the bridge, energy facilities in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions were damaged at night. As Klitschko noted, the electricity situation in the capital is "extremely difficult," and the operation of heat and water supply systems is complicated. Specialists continue to assess the scale of damage to the bridge deck and adjacent infrastructure; restoration deadlines have not yet been named.
