The logistics market in Ukraine has entered a new stage of transformation. Nova Poshta has launched a pilot project that radically changes the usual rhythm of courier work and customer expectations. Now, parcels can be delivered to postomat lockers at night, from 22:00 to 07:00.
Schedule Change: Delivery While the City Sleeps
The initiative is already being tested in five key cities across the country: Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Poltava. The statistics from the first month of the project are impressive: in May alone, the company delivered nearly 160,000 shipments to lockers during the night.
The essence of the innovation is simple and effective. If a shipment arrives in the city late in the evening, couriers no longer wait until morning to unload the truck. Parcels are placed in lockers at night, allowing customers to pick them up right at the start of the workday. After the successful completion of testing, the format is planned to be scaled to all million-plus cities and regional centers of Ukraine.
The Battle for Speed: Reducing Deadlines
Night delivery is not just a convenience, but also a tool for fighting for time. The company demonstrates a confident trend towards accelerating logistics chains. If in January the average delivery time to a locker was 26.5 hours, by May this figure had dropped to 20.5 hours.
Thus, on average, delivery has become almost six hours faster. For customers, this means that the waiting time for an order has decreased by almost a quarter, which is critically important in the conditions of the modern economy.
Logistics Amidst Challenges
The development of services is taking place against the backdrop of complex external circumstances. It was previously reported that during the Russian strike on Kyiv, Nova Poshta's largest automated sorting terminal was destroyed. Despite extensive damage to infrastructure, the company managed to maintain uninterrupted operations by launching reserve logistics schemes. The employees were unharmed.
The situation remains tense in other regions as well. In Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region, due to constant shelling, it was necessary to temporarily close the last two branches. However, even under such conditions, the company tries to maintain service availability: lockers continue to operate in the city, and employees were offered vacancies in safer regions of Ukraine.
