July 8 marked a day of significant victory for Ukrainian defenders in the Donbas. Despite fierce enemy resistance and dense minefields, the warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fully cleared the settlement of Novohatske in the Donetsk region of Russian occupiers.
Joint operation of the Marine Corps and Air Assault troops
The operation to liberate the settlement was carried out by fighters of the 37th Separate Marine Brigade in close coordination with the warriors of the 79th Air Assault Tavria Brigade. According to military sources, the advance was made step by step. Ukrainian defenders had to operate in conditions where every meter of territory was mined, and the enemy offered stubborn resistance.
The result of coordinated actions was the complete expulsion of Russian military personnel from their positions. The enemy suffered losses and was forced to retreat, leaving control of the settlement.
Mutual recognition of merits
The command of the 37th Marine Brigade officially thanked their colleagues from the 79th Air Assault Brigade for the successful conduct of the joint operation. This cooperation became a key factor for success in a complex combat situation.
Context of the situation on the front
The successes of the Ukrainian side in this direction contrast with the attempts of the Russian leadership to manipulate information. The reminder of the events of July 3, when Vladimir Putin claimed the alleged capture of Konstantynivka, highlights the gap between propaganda and reality on the front. The General Staff of the AFU promptly refuted these claims, confirming that the city remains under the control of the Defense Forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized that fierce fighting continues for Konstantynivka, and any claims of its loss do not correspond to reality.
