The Armed Forces of Ukraine are introducing a new system of material incentives for specific combat results. The Ministry of Defense of the country has officially announced payments for capturing the enemy and destroying enemy personnel. These measures are designed to support the troops and increase the effectiveness of combat operations.
Reward for capturing prisoners
Pursuant to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated June 12, 2026, No. 768, Ukrainian soldiers will be paid 100,000 hryvnias for each captured Russian serviceman. The legislation provides for a mechanism for the fair distribution of funds: if the capture is carried out by a group of defenders, the amount will be divided among them proportionally to each person's contribution.
Payments for destroying the enemy
For the destruction of an occupant during small-arms or hand-to-hand combat, a payment of 15,000 hryvnias is provided. However, to receive these funds, strict compliance with documentation is required. The only acceptable basis for crediting the money is the presence of video evidence of the fact of destroying the enemy.
Procedure and timing of payments
New bonuses will be credited along with the main pay. The procedure is initiated by an order of the commander of the military unit, which is formed by the 5th of the current month for the reporting period. The actual payment of additional funds to military personnel is carried out by the 20th of the same month.
Context of labor remuneration reform
These measures fit into the overall strategy of reforming the contract service. Recently, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine introduced three new types of contracts: infantry-storming, combat, and basic. The highest rates are provided for infantry-storming positions, where monthly income can reach 460,000 hryvnias.
The structure of such remuneration includes a base rate of 20,000 hryvnias and a system of allowances based on the "10/20/40" principle:
- 10,000 hryvnias for each day spent at the positions;
- 20,000 hryvnias for participation in strike-search operations;
- 40,000 hryvnias for participation in storming operations.
In addition to monthly payments, defenders under new contracts receive a one-time reward for the first signed contract and annual health assistance. On June 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law on changes to the state budget, which legally enshrines the increase in military salaries.
