Fourth-ranked player in Ukraine and 46th in the world ranking, Alexandra Oliynykova, ended her run in the singles draw of the 2026 US Open. In the round of 32 (second round), she lost to the Philippines' Alexandra Eala with a score of 1:6, 4:6. This is reported by Sport RBC.UA, citing the match result.
Defeat in the round of 32
The match lasted just one hour and five minutes and ended in a convincing victory for the tournament's 17th seed. In the first set, the Filipino tennis player fully controlled the initiative, conceding only one game to the Ukrainian. In the second set, Alexandra tried to impose a fight, but Eala held her advantage and took the match to victory. Notably, this success was a revenge for Eala for her May loss at the WTA 500 clay-court tournament in Strasbourg, where Oliynykova had previously been stronger.
Personal best at the American Grand Slam
Despite the defeat, Oliynykova finishes her run in the singles draw with a personal best: for the first time in her career she reached the second round of the American Grand Slam, overcoming wildcard holder Riz Brantmeier at the start. In addition, this season the Ukrainian made the main draw at all four Grand Slam tournaments, which underscores the stability of her form throughout the year.

Alexandra became the fourth Ukrainian to put her racket away in the singles draw on the New York courts. Marta Kostyuk, Elina Svitolina and Yulia Starodubtseva continue the fight at the tournament, representing the national team in the further rounds of the singles draw.

Oliynykova herself does not leave the tournament completely: she will continue her run at the 2026 US Open in the doubles draw, where she will play in a tandem with Croatia's Petra Marcinke. Thus, the Ukrainian will get the chance to compete for points and prize money in the doubles draw of the season's final tournament.
