The Ukrainian digital ecosystem continues to expand, and this time it concerns a procedure that traditionally causes stress for citizens and requires personal presence at government agencies. The app 'Diiya' is preparing to launch the ability to dissolve a marriage online. According to Valeria Koval, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, beta testing of this service will start as early as late June or early July.
Technical readiness and launch dates
The process of implementing the new feature is described by the development team as painstaking. In addition to technical implementation, complex synchronization with the Ministry of Justice and databases of state registration acts (GRAGS) is required. Nevertheless, the work is on the final stretch. It is expected that after the completion of the testing period, which usually lasts from one to two months, the service will become available to the mass user approximately by the end of summer.
Who can use the service?
It is important to understand that online divorce is not a universal solution for all family situations. The function will be available exclusively to couples acting by mutual consent, and only in the absence of common minor children. In the event of children, the procedure for dissolution of marriage will remain in the traditional format.
How will the procedure take place?
The mechanics of the process are maximally simplified for the user. All actions are performed directly in the 'Diiya' app with the participation of both spouses. Key features of the new service:
- Instant fixation: The date of filing for divorce will appear in the system immediately after sending.
- Consideration deadlines: The decision is made by the ZAGS department, the standard term is up to 30 days.
- Right of withdrawal: Applicants can withdraw their application directly in the app at any time before the ZAGS makes a final decision.
New horizons of digital public service
Online divorce is just part of a major update of the 'Diiya' functionality. In parallel with this development, beta testing of the service for breaking labor relations has started, which is relevant for those who have lost contact with their employer. In addition, the app has become more convenient for parents: now you can issue a tax number for a child and receive an electronic taxpayer card. Also, Ukrainians have the opportunity to submit income declarations and arrange tax deductions, getting rid of unnecessary bureaucracy.
