Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to deliver a massive blow to the enemy's logistics and equipment in the deep rear. As part of two stages of the special operation 'Auchan', 1,180 Russian targets were hit. This was reported by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, emphasizing that the actions were aimed at asymmetrically weakening the enemy's offensive potential.
First Stage: Halting the Mechanized Offensive
The initiative to conduct the operation came from the President and was approved by the General Staff, receiving additional funding last year. The Defense Forces used specially developed drones, intelligence data, and a meticulously planned attack strategy.
The first stage of the operation lasted only three days. During this time, Ukrainian military forces struck 949 targets. The effectiveness of the strike was so high that Russian troops were forced to withdraw a significant portion of their equipment from the front line. According to the Ministry of Defense, it took the enemy months to recover from the losses, and their mechanized offensive was halted for approximately six months.
Second Stage: Strike Against Artillery
A few weeks ago, the Defense Forces repeated the operation, shifting the focus to Russian artillery, which remains one of the main threats to Ukrainian units on the battlefield. A new specialized munition designed to destroy artillery systems was developed for the second stage.
The results of the second stage were also significant: 231 targets were hit, of which 171 objects were completely destroyed.
Strategic Significance and Participants of the Operation
In total, over the two stages of Operation 'Auchan', Ukrainian military forces struck 1,180 hostile targets. Mykhailo Fedorov noted that such operations are significant not just in terms of the count of destroyed equipment. "These are disrupted enemy plans, fewer opportunities for their offensive, and more chances to save the lives of our military," the minister emphasized.
Elite units of the Defense Forces were involved in carrying out the special operation, including the separate special forces unit Lasar's Group of the National Guard and the 412nd separate unmanned systems brigade NEMESIS.
Assessment of the Situation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine Command
Despite the successes within the framework of Operation 'Auchan', the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, calls for caution in assessments. According to him, the Defense Forces are steadily destroying Russian equipment, disrupting logistics, and striking the enemy's critical infrastructure.
However, Syrskyi stated that it is still too early to talk about a turning point in the war. Russia retains significant offensive potential, continues to increase troop numbers and the production of means of destruction, preparing for possible attacks on new sections of the front.
