Customers of the state-owned Oschadbank may experience temporary disruptions in some services today, June 29. The financial institution has officially warned about this, explaining the situation as being due to technical reasons linked to external factors.

Heat and the power grid cause outages

According to RBC-Ukraine, citing an official statement from Oschadbank on Telegram, the problems arose against the backdrop of abnormally high air temperatures. Extreme heat combined with unstable power grid performance forced the bank to carry out additional technical work. It is precisely these preventive and repair measures that have temporarily affected the stability of certain banking services.

The bank has assured that the situation is under control. Technical teams are already working to eliminate glitches and restore full functionality of all services. According to optimistic forecasts by specialists, all disruptions should be resolved by the end of today.

Context: features of the currency market

Against the backdrop of technical difficulties in the operations of the largest state bank, it is worth recalling the current situation in Ukraine's currency market. Currency exchange conditions in the country remain uneven and depend heavily on the choice of financial institution and the method of transaction — via a cash desk or an online app.

As of the end of June 2026, the following dynamics are observed:

  • Cash currency purchase at the teller is most advantageous at PrivatBank.
  • Oschadbank, in turn, offers more attractive rates for selling currency.

Furthermore, financial experts continue to provide recommendations regarding the condition of banknotes. Specialists do not advise attempting to exchange "old" dollar bills for new ones directly. The banking system does not provide for such a direct exchange. The client will have to go through a two-step procedure: first sell the old banknotes for hryvnia, and then purchase new bills at the current rate.
