Over the past 24 hours, the Dnipropetrovsk region has become the target of a large-scale attack by the Russian army. According to regional authorities, the enemy launched more than 40 strikes on the territory of five districts, using unmanned aerial vehicles and artillery. As a result of the shelling, civilian objects, infrastructure, and people have been affected.
Scale of destruction and casualties
Alexander Ganja, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, confirmed that the district center, as well as the Marmarietska, Pokrovska, and Chervonohryhorivska hromadas, were hit. Both multi-apartment and private houses, as well as residents' personal vehicles, have been destroyed and damaged.
Particularly alarming is the fact that a minor was among the injured. A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized in moderate condition. Four other people sustained injuries of varying severity: an 18-year-old man, a 39-year-old man, and a 45-year-old woman are receiving outpatient treatment.
Targets of attacks in different hromadas
Russian forces did not bypass other settlements in the region. In the Shakhtarska and Raivska hromadas, industrial enterprises and vehicles were damaged. In the Slobozhanska hromada, strikes hit a cemetery, an agricultural enterprise, a private house, and vehicles.
In the Pieschanska hromada, damage to private houses and infrastructure was also recorded. As a result of the shelling, elderly residents were injured: a 73-year-old woman and an 86-year-old man. Both victims will be treated at home.
Context of escalation
The current wave of shelling is taking place against the backdrop of tragic events that occurred on the night of June 2. Then, Russia carried out a large-scale combined attack on Dnipro, which resulted in significant casualties. Due to the number of deaths, a day of mourning was declared in the city.
According to the latest data from the regional military administration, the number of victims of that attack has risen to 16 people. Among the dead are children. The situation in the region remains tense, and the number of casualties from hostilities continues to grow.
