A significant shift has occurred in international diplomacy that could fundamentally alter the landscape of future negotiations. For the first time, the United States has officially approved a document in which Washington acknowledges itself not as a neutral mediator in the war in Ukraine, but as a direct partner of Kyiv. This decision confirms the course of full integration of the Western position in support of Ukrainian statehood.

Information about the adoption of such a text was confirmed by French President Emmanuel Macron during his briefing. According to the French leader, the document enshrines a fundamentally new status for the US in the conflict: Washington no longer claims the role of an arbiter, but openly takes the position of a supporter of Ukraine.

Four Pillars of the New Strategy

Emmanuel Macron detailed the content of the agreed text, highlighting four key areas in which the US now officially stands shoulder to shoulder with European partners and Ukraine. According to the statement by the President of France, Washington has confirmed its position on the following points:

  • Support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine;
  • Provision of military aid;
  • Energy support;
  • Imposition and maintenance of sanctions against Russia.

"Regarding Ukraine, the United States has for the first time approved a text stating that they are no longer a neutral mediator, but stand together with us," emphasized Macron. This statement removes any ambiguity regarding America's role in resolving the crisis.

European Context and the Kremlin's Position

France's position on this issue is consistent. Previously, Emmanuel Macron had already defined Europe's role in negotiations with Russia, insisting that the European Union cannot act as a neutral mediator. In his opinion, the EU should participate in the dialogue exclusively as a party supporting Ukraine, which fully correlates with the new US formulation.

It is important to note that this diplomatic step is consistent with the American side's assessment of Moscow's readiness for peace. Macron stated that Donald Trump agreed with the thesis that the Kremlin is not demonstrating a serious desire to conduct substantive negotiations on ending the war. The lack of a constructive position on the part of Russia, according to Western leaders, makes neutral arbitration impossible and requires allies to provide open support to Kyiv.
