The Ukrainian labor market is undergoing noticeable changes amid an ongoing labor shortage. According to analytical data from OLX Work as of August 2026, the number of job openings targeted at candidates on parental leave has increased by approximately 10% compared to the same period last year. Employers are increasingly engaging this category of specialists by offering flexible schedules and remote working formats.

Growth Leaders and Most Popular Specialties

The largest surge in offers was recorded in the content creation and logistics segments. Demand for copywriters grew almost fivefold, with the median salary for this position reaching 22,000 hryvnias. The number of vacancies for order pickers increased significantly—growth exceeded last year's figures by more than three times, with a median pay of 27,000 hryvnias.

Furthermore, steady demand is observed in retail, sales, and procurement. Offers for support staff and service sector specialists have noticeably increased: vacancies for cleaners rose by 32%, for cooks also by 32%, content managers became 31% more in-demand, and maids saw a 17% increase.

Wage Dynamics and Staff Shortages

Alongside the expansion of available positions, a rise in median wages is also being recorded. The absolute leader in growth rates has been merchandisers, whose earnings increased nearly fourfold to reach 17,000 hryvnias. For most other professions, wage growth over the year ranged from 10% to 30% compared to August 2025, while in certain qualified areas, payments reach 37,000 hryvnias.

Expert Analysis and Causes of Change

Experts attribute this trend primarily to the systemic staff shortage faced by approximately 78% of Ukrainian enterprises and companies. Finding qualified employees today can take several months, forcing businesses to revise their HR strategies and more actively engage personnel previously considered less accessible due to employment specifics, including parents on leave.
