Ukrainian legislation provides for the possibility of early retirement for certain categories of citizens. This right allows them to start receiving payments before reaching the standard retirement age of 60. RBC-Ukraine reports on who exactly can take advantage of this privilege, citing the press service of the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region.
Special conditions apply to people with special status, those with serious health problems, as well as those who found themselves in a difficult life situation due to job loss.
Benefits for participants of hostilities and parents of large families
One of the priority categories includes participants of hostilities, as well as persons who received a disability as a result of the war. This group also includes family members of deceased defenders of Ukraine.
The following conditions for retirement apply to them:
- Men can retire at 55 years old with an insurance record of at least 25 years.
- Women have the right to early retirement at 50 years old if their work experience is at least 20 years.
Separate concessions are provided for mothers of large families. Those who gave birth to and raised five or more children to the age of six, as well as mothers of children with disabilities from childhood or seriously ill children, can retire at 50 years old. This requires an insurance record of 15 years.
It is important to note that this right is not limited to mothers only. At their choice, or in their absence, the father can use this right. For men in this category, the retirement age is 55 years with a work experience of at least 20 years.
Pension upon dismissal before retirement
The legislation also protects the interests of workers who lost their jobs shortly before reaching retirement age. The right to early retirement applies to citizens dismissed no more than one and a half years before reaching retirement age.
This support measure is relevant in the following cases:
- Reduction of staff;
- Liquidation or reorganization of the enterprise;
- Incompatibility with the held position due to health status.
To realize this right, a number of conditions must be met. First, the citizen must register with the employment service within 30 days after dismissal. Second, a full insurance record is required: 35 years for men and 30 years for women.
