The first explosions in the city rang out at approximately 21:30. Amid the ongoing air raid alert, the head of the RMA urged residents not to leave shelters until the official signal is lifted. About half an hour later, Dyakovnych reported a Russian drone hit in the area of private residential buildings, noting that operational services were already working at the scene and information was being clarified.

Context: Infrastructure Strikes
The attack on Poltava occurred against the backdrop of ongoing Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. As media outlets recall, last night Russia launched one of the largest strikes on Ukraine's energy facilities. The issue regarding the reasons why, according to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian leadership is purposefully attacking major cities is also being discussed separately.
