At the beginning of the new week, Ukrainian consumers noted changes in the cost of essential food items. According to monitoring conducted by RBC-Ukraine, on Monday, June 15, retail chains updated price tags on key items in the food basket. Experts are comparing current figures with data from last Friday, identifying trends on supermarket shelves.
Bakery products: stability and new lows
The situation in the bread segment remains relatively calm. During price monitoring for sliced white and wheat bread (weight category 300–400 g), current minimums were recorded. Although there was no global price spike, shoppers can find offers with the lowest price tags in various chains, making the basic product accessible.
Eggs and cereals: targeted reductions
A more interesting trend is observed in the egg category. Monitoring the cost of C1 grade chicken eggs (per dozen) showed that after the weekend, there was a targeted price reduction in certain retail outlets. This means that while not all stores lowered prices, some did make the product cheaper.
A similar picture is seen with cereals. At the beginning of the week, the price of a 1 kg package of pearl barley demonstrated predominant stability. However, a significant price drop was recorded in one of the retail chains, distinguishing this store from its competitors.
Milk and butter: dependence on packaging
In the dairy segment, prices for pasteurized and ultra-pasteurized milk with a fat content of 2.5–2.6% vary depending on volume and packaging type. Shoppers should pay attention to different formats to find the most advantageous offer.
As for sunflower oil, in the segment of refined products with a volume of 0.5 liters, a slight price reduction was recorded over the weekend on so-called "social positions." These are small but positive changes for the family budget.
