In the summer of 2026, Ukrainians will be able to continue traveling free of charge across the country under the state program '3000 km across Ukraine'. However, the carrier warns: due to high demand, the number of available routes and seats will be significantly limited.
According to the press service of 'Ukrzaliznytsia', the program, launched in December 2025, remains active during the summer season. It provides each participant with an annual limit of 3000 kilometers of free travel on domestic routes. However, it can only be used on those trains and in those carriages that the company allocates, taking into account current occupancy and the need not to disrupt the schedule of other transport operations.
Why are there fewer seats in the summer?
'Ukrzaliznytsia' explains the situation by seasonality. The largest number of free seats is traditionally available during off-peak periods — January–February and October–early November. During this time, passenger traffic decreases by 30–50%, which allows the company to flexibly distribute resources and offer more routes without detriment to paid transport.
Summer, however, is the peak of the tourist and business season. Trains are full, and allocating seats for free tickets becomes a difficult task. Nevertheless, in June and July 2026, free travel documents will be available for specific seats on a number of long-distance trains, as well as on some regional routes.
Which directions are available?
The specific list of trains and routes participating in the program may change daily. It depends on demand, flight occupancy, and the operational situation on the railway tracks. The company reserves the right to adjust the list in real time to ensure stable communication between all regions of Ukraine — especially with major cities and frontline territories.
Important: even in wartime conditions, 'Ukrzaliznytsia' strives to maintain population mobility. The '3000 km across Ukraine' program is one of the tools of social support, allowing citizens to move around the country without financial costs, but taking into account logistical limitations.

Passengers are advised to regularly check the current list of trains and seats on the official website or in the 'Ukrzaliznytsia' mobile application. The number of free tickets is limited, and they are distributed on a 'first come, first served' basis.
The program continues to work as an important element of the state's transport policy, adapting to changing conditions and maintaining a balance between social mission and operational efficiency.
