A new wave of disinformation has erupted in the information space. Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in his latest statement, announced the 'capture' of the city of Konstantynivka in the Donetsk region. However, the reality on the front lines has nothing to do with Kremlin rhetoric. Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold the city under their full control.

Official Denial by the General Staff

Colonel Andriy Kovtun, spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, categorically refuted the Russian president's words. According to him, information about the alleged occupation of the settlement by Russian troops is not true. Data on the operational situation in the 'Kolonel' system and the DELTA line of contact confirm: Konstantynivka remains in the hands of Ukrainian defenders.

Units and subunits of the 19th Army Corps of the 'East' Operational Command continue active defensive operations both within the city and on its approaches. Despite fierce resistance, Ukrainian troops are not yielding strategically important lines.

Reality at the Front: Assaults and Counter-Sabotage

The situation in the Konstantynivka area remains tense. The enemy does not give up attempts to seize the city, resorting to small-group tactics. Cases of infiltration of infantry groups numbering from one to three people deep into combat formations have been recorded. However, these attempts are thwarted during counter-sabotage operations: saboteurs are detected and neutralized.

Combat statistics for July eloquently speak to the lack of success on the Russian side:

  • The enemy carried out 11 assault operations in the Konstantynivka direction.
  • None of the attacks were successful.
  • Ukrainian defenders are inflicting fire damage on enemy logistical routes and troop concentration points.

The Political Context of the Fake News

The 'East' Army Group called Putin's statement another example of lies. In the opinion of the military, the Russian leadership is trying to 'paint' non-existent successes to justify the failure of their operational-strategic plans and disproportionately high personnel losses. While the Kremlin talks about moving to the 'Sloviansk-Kramatorsk line', combat maps (for example, DeepState) show that Russian troops are only near the settlement but do not control it.

"Ukrainian defenders continue to hold positions on certain lines. The situation remains complex but is under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces," summarized a representative of the General Staff.
