During a speech at the economic forum in St. Petersburg, Vladimir Putin commented on the incident with the fall of the "Oreshnik" missile on the territory of the occupied Donetsk region. The leader of the Russian Federation stated that this was not an accident or combat use, but was part of a special plan to test the system.

"Oreshnik" as a test range

Putin refuted rumors that the missile troops lost control of the ammunition. On the contrary, he emphasized that strikes on Ukraine using this system were not of a combat nature in the full sense of the word.

"This is not combat use. We did not have a single combat use of the "Oreshnik" on the territory of Ukraine in the full sense of the word," RBC-Ukraine quotes the Russian leader.

Regarding the fall of the missile in the area of the fortified area in the DPRK, the President of the Russian Federation told about the details of the "experiment". According to him, after the strike on the shed in this area, Russian drones were sent. Their task was to visually record the results: specialists assessed the dispersion of the blocks and calculated the accuracy of the fall "to the millimeter".

"For us, this is important in order to make a decision in the future on the full-scale use of the "Oreshnik" for the designated targets," Putin explained.

Context of a massive attack

Putin's admission of the fact of tests occurred some time after a large-scale combined strike that Russia launched on the night of May 24. According to the Air Force of Ukraine, the occupiers used 90 missiles and 600 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, including "Oreshnik" missiles.

Until today, the authorities of the Russian Federation have not commented on the fall of one of the munitions on their own occupied territory. Now this incident has been officially reinterpreted as a successful test.

"Formula of Peace" and Air Defense

During the speech, Putin also touched upon the issue of air defense, stating that Russia has a system that "Ukraine does not have". This statement was made against the backdrop of an attack by Ukrainian drones on St. Petersburg, which took place on June 3.

In addition, the Russian leader voiced his "formula of peace". He stated that he is "unconditionally ready" to agree with Ukraine, but set a strict condition: negotiations must take place "on the basis" of a meeting in Alaska with Donald Trump.
