On Saturday, July 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump. This was reported by the Russian leader's aide, Yuri Ushakov, as relayed by RBK-Ukraine citing Russian media.
Long and constructive dialogue
The conversation between the two leaders lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. During the call, Putin congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of US independence — a significant historical event for the American state.
According to Ushakov, this was already the fourth phone conversation between Putin and Trump this year. He noted that the discussion was not only protocol-based but also business-oriented and was "highly constructive".
"This conversation allowed for an open discussion of current issues on the bilateral and international agenda," emphasized the Russian President's aide.
The Ukrainian issue at the center of attention
One of the key topics addressed during the conversation was the situation in Ukraine. Although the details of the discussion are not disclosed, the mere mention of the topic indicates its significance in the dialogue between Moscow and Washington.

On the same day, in the evening of July 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also held a phone conversation with Donald Trump. The Ukrainian leader congratulated Trump and all Americans on the 250th anniversary of the USA and expressed gratitude for support of Ukraine.
The parties discussed the situation on the battlefield and diplomatic prospects. Zelenskyy emphasized: "There is a real prospect of ending this war, and America's determination will be decisive".
As a result of the conversation, the leaders agreed to continue communicating in person during the NATO summit in Ankara.
