Significant accumulation of vehicles waiting to leave the country is being recorded at the Ukrainian-Polish border. According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the largest queues have formed at the border crossing points (BCPs) of Shehyni, Rava-Ruska, and Krakovec.
Situation at key border crossing points
Currently, the most congested crossing point is Shehyni, where the queue consists of 60 vehicles. Significant traffic congestion is also observed at the Rava-Ruska and Krakovec crossings. Meanwhile, the Smylnytsia border crossing point remains relatively uncongested and can serve as an alternative route for those planning to cross the border.
Border guards' recommendations
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine advises drivers and passengers to plan their border crossing during off-peak hours. To reduce waiting times, it is recommended to choose early morning or late evening hours. Additionally, travelers should check the current situation at border crossing points in advance and, if possible, use alternative routes.
Reasons for the increase in passenger traffic
The growth of queues at the border is linked to the start of the summer season. Passenger traffic has already reached 115,000 crossings per day, with the Shehyni and Ustyluh border crossing points experiencing the heaviest load. According to border guard forecasts, departures from Ukraine will prevail in June due to the start of vacations and holidays.
Scheduled works on the Polish side
It is worth noting separately that Poland will temporarily suspend the passage of buses from Ukraine through the Shehyni–Medyka border crossing point. This is due to repair works on the bus lane on the Polish side, which are scheduled to start on June 15, 2026, and last until approximately November 2027.
