Kyiv authorities plan to launch new bus routes to establish direct transport connection between the red and green metro lines. This was announced by Andriy Tkachov, Acting Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), during the national telethon.

New Transport Solutions for the Capital

The need to optimize surface public transport is driven by current logistical challenges and the necessity to ensure uninterrupted passenger transit between the right and left banks of the capital. According to Andriy Tkachov, relevant specialists have already calculated optimal logistical chains. The new buses will transport residents of neighborhoods adjacent to the red metro line to the stations of the green line, allowing citizens to make convenient transfers when traveling to other parts of the metropolis.

Current Changes and Public Transport Operations

Currently, 12 additional vehicles are already operating on the routes. In addition, a separate route has been launched that duplicates sections of the red metro line to compensate for potential headway intervals. These measures are being taken against the backdrop of regular adjustments to urban transport operations related to security and infrastructure restrictions on the capital's bridges.

Prospects for Restoring Traffic Across the South Bridge

Earlier, city authorities also reported the resumption of train traffic on the surface section of the green metro line during a yellow threat level. The possibility of fully opening the South Bridge for metro trains is being discussed, but this decision will be made exclusively after a detailed expert conclusion from specialized Ukrainian scientists and engineers regarding the current technical condition of the bridge structure.
