Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, through its sub-brand Redmi, has officially announced the launch of a new mid-range smartphone — the Redmi Note 17 Pro. According to verified teasers published on the Weibo platform, the device will be presented in China on July 14, 2026. The model is positioned as a device with unprecedented autonomy and the highest level of physical protection.
Record autonomy and unique warranty
The main feature of the new device is the integration of a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 9000 mAh. This battery, developed using Xiaomi's proprietary Jinshajiang technology (Xiaomi GSR in export versions), exceeds average industry indicators in the mid-range segment by 30–40%. The safety and durability of the power element are confirmed by a five-star certificate from the German conglomerate TÜV SÜD.
To reduce risks associated with cell degradation, Xiaomi has introduced an unprecedented "First Sale Free Five-Year Battery Upgrade Guarantee" program:
- Years 1–4: If the battery capacity drops below 80%, the service department will replace it with a new 9000 mAh element free of charge.
- 5th year: In the event of a critical drop in capacity during the fifth year of operation, the manufacturer undertakes to perform an upgrade by installing an enhanced 10,000 mAh battery.
Charging speed is supported at 67 W. Additionally, a reverse wired charging function with a power of 22.5 W has been implemented, allowing the smartphone to be used as a Power Bank for other gadgets.
Structural strength and display
The Redmi Note 17 Pro body has received an expanded protection complex, including the IP69K standard, which ensures resistance to hot water jets under ultra-high pressure. The device is also certified according to IP66/IP68 standards and has passed TÜV SÜD Deep-Water tests, confirming the ability to remain at a depth of 2 meters for up to 72 hours.
The display section features a flat AMOLED matrix with a 1.5K resolution and a peak brightness of 3500 nits. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and withstands drops onto marble from a height of up to 3 meters, as confirmed by SGS and CQC certificates.
Performance and software
Computational processes are handled by an energy-efficient 4-nanometer octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 6-series processor (presumably Snapdragon 6 Gen 5) paired with LPDDR5X RAM with a volume starting from 8 GB. The multimedia experience is enhanced by dual stereo speakers.
The HyperOS software platform is optimized to prevent constant memory fragmentation (Wear Leveling), ensuring stable device performance throughout a 5-year usage cycle.
Prospects for international market launch
Following the release in China, a modification for global markets is expected. However, the mass launch of the smartphone with a 9000 mAh battery in European Union countries will require passing additional notification procedures in accordance with CE and RoHS regulations, as certification rules prescribe mandatory declaration of electromagnetic radiation parameters (SAR) and procedures for the disposal of high-density lithium cells.
