Starting Friday evening, July 10, drivers in Kyiv will face changes in traffic organization on the Southern Bridge. The municipal enterprise "Kyivavtodormost" is beginning extensive repairs of the asphalt-concrete pavement, which will require partial traffic restrictions for several days.

Details of the Repair Works

According to information from the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCCA), road workers will be working around the clock. The main focus of the repairs is on the carriageway in the direction from Pechersk to the Darnytskyi district. The work will be carried out in the second, middle lane of traffic.

Repair crews intend to update the pavement to ensure safety and comfort for motorists in the long term. However, during the period of the works, drivers will have to adapt to the new traffic scheme.

Traffic Organization

Due to the closure of the middle lane, traffic will be organized as follows:

  • In the direction of the Darnytskyi district (from Pechersk), traffic will be carried out on the two outer lanes.
  • In the direction of Pechersk (from the Darnytskyi district), traffic will remain unchanged, all lanes are open.

Drivers are advised to plan their route in advance and take into account possible congestion during peak hours, as the capacity of the bridge towards Darnytsia will be temporarily reduced.

Context of Road Works in the Capital

The repair of the Southern Bridge is part of a large-scale program to update Kyiv's road infrastructure. Earlier, "Kyivavtodor" had already announced plans to restore a number of capital roads and bridges this year.

In addition to the Southern Bridge, there are other temporary restrictions in the city. For example, the bridge on Beresteiskyi Avenue is partially closed to pedestrians until autumn due to repair work. Also, the police regularly remind drivers of the need to have the mandatory set of documents and items in the car.

Residents and guests of the city are advised to follow up-to-date messages from the KCCA and road services to avoid inconvenience on the road.
