In mid-July, residents and guests of the capital will have to adjust their routes. From July 13 to 16, temporary traffic restrictions will come into effect on Naberezhne Highway in the Pechersk district, and the famous funicular connecting the Upper City and Podil will also close for scheduled maintenance.
Restrictions on Naberezhne Highway
According to information from municipal services, specialists from the Pechersk Road Maintenance Department are beginning large-scale cleaning and repair of the stormwater drainage system. The work will be carried out on a long stretch from Podil to the Metro Bridge.
To ensure safety and uninterrupted work, traffic will be partially restricted. One lane of traffic will be closed in the work zone. Restrictions will be in effect daily during daylight hours — from 8:00 to 20:00.
Representatives of Kyivavtodor warned that the work schedule is tied to weather conditions. In case of worsening weather, the repair deadlines may be adjusted. The municipal corporation strongly recommends that drivers take these factors into account when planning their trips.
Funicular closes for the summer
In addition to roadworks, significant changes will also affect public transport. On the same day, July 13, the funicular will stop operating. The railway line connecting the historic center with Podil is closing for annual scheduled repairs.
Technical maintenance will last until almost the end of summer — until August 21. During this period, specialists will conduct a comprehensive inspection of critical components: cables, sleepers, and the contact network will be checked. In addition, the cars will undergo mandatory tests under increased load to guarantee their safety.
Additional closures in the city
The road situation in the capital remains tense due to repair work. It was previously reported that from July 10 to 13, the Southern Bridge was partially closed, where municipal workers were restoring the asphalt concrete pavement. Restrictions on the bridge were in effect until 8:00 on Monday, however, drivers should be attentive to road signs and announcements about new closures.
