On the morning of October 30, an accident occurred on the right bank of Kyiv involving power grid equipment previously damaged by Russian shelling. As a result, the scheduled hourly power outage timetables in this part of the capital are temporarily inactive. This was reported by DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids, emphasizing that due to the malfunction, power engineers cannot currently apply the projected outage schedules on the right bank.
What Happened on the Right Bank of Kyiv
According to the company, the disruption of normal operations was caused by the aftermath of previous attacks: part of the energy facility's equipment had been damaged earlier, and on October 30 an accident occurred that knocked the section out of its calculated operating mode. This is why the familiar hourly outage scheme is not working on the right bank today — electricity supply and interruptions under such conditions do not follow a pre-approved schedule.
Why Outage Schedules Are Temporarily Inactive
DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids explained that during an accident on damaged equipment, it is impossible to guarantee compliance with planned outage intervals: the grid is operating in an emergency mode, and any manipulations with the schedule could worsen the situation. The company stated that power engineers are already working on-site and doing everything possible to stabilize the situation as quickly as possible. Information regarding the resumption of schedules will be communicated to consumers additionally.
Where Else Schedules Have Been Suspended
In addition to the right bank of Kyiv, hourly outage schedules are temporarily suspended in the Obukhiv, Fastiv, and Bucha districts of the Kyiv region. Thus, the disruption has affected not only part of the capital, but also adjacent areas of the region where an unscheduled power supply regime has also been introduced until the grid stabilizes.
Context: Attacks on Energy Facilities and Hourly Outages
The situation is unfolding against the backdrop of ongoing hourly power outages in a number of Ukrainian regions, which were introduced due to massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure facilities. Damage inflicted on energy facilities during shelling remains a key reason for load limitation and redistribution on the grids. In Kyiv, reports indicate that the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids office was among the structures damaged by the attacks.
Work of Power Engineers and Grid Restoration
DTEK notes that despite ongoing attacks, the company continues to invest in Ukraine's energy sector and restore power supplies. According to the company, over the past week, DTEK power engineers have restored power to more than 1.2 million families. In the near future, the priority remains eliminating the consequences of the morning accident on the right bank of Kyiv and returning to the normal operation mode of outage schedules.
