The capital's transport system is facing new challenges related to the need to unload key highways and bridge crossings. Amidst complicated traffic between the right and left banks of Kyiv, the Kyiv City Express project is taking unprecedented measures to support passenger traffic. From October 5 to October 9, 2026, 18 additional shuttle trips are being launched on the route between Vydubychi and Darnytsia stations.

Essence of Innovations and Schedule

Additional trains will run during the most critical peak hours—both morning and evening—when the load on public transport reaches its maximum values. All appointed shuttles will make a mandatory intermediate stop at the Berezniaky stop, which will provide additional convenience for residents of nearby residential areas. Transport organizers note that strict adherence to the schedule will minimize delays and unload ground transport.

Boarding Organization and Integration with Other Routes

To ensure a seamless process and passenger safety, a special boarding and alighting procedure has been developed. At Vydubychi station, trains will receive passengers on track 3, while at Darnytsia station, tracks 1 and 2 are involved, which is why citizens are strongly urged to carefully listen to audio announcements at the stations.

Intervals and Capacity

In addition to special shuttles, passengers have the opportunity to use regular commuter and regional trains heading in the directions of Nizhyn, Hrebinka, Konotop, and Slavutych. These formations are also integrated into the general transportation system and stop at Vydubychi and Darnytsia, while commuter trips additionally serve the Berezniaky platform. Due to the synergy of shuttles and scheduled trains, the total capacity during peak hours will reach up to 6 trips per hour.

Modern Digital Services and Context of Changes

Travel documents can be purchased in the official mobile application of Ukrzaliznytsia, and the trip can be planned in detail on the Kyiv City Express website. It is worth noting that the introduction of temporary shuttles occurs against the background of recent technical adjustments in the operation of the ring electric train, including temporary suspensions of movement at the end of September. Nevertheless, the capital's transport infrastructure continues to develop, offering passengers new technological solutions, such as validating electronic tickets directly before entering the platform.
