The situation surrounding the mass riots in Lviv is entering a new phase: law enforcement agencies have identified individuals involved in the attack on military personnel in the Sykhiv district. Some of the suspects have already been taken into custody. This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozitskyi, in his Telegram channel.
Operational work and first arrests
The regional administration thanked law enforcement agencies for their operational work in identifying the perpetrators. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities promise that everyone whose actions went beyond the bounds of the law will receive a corresponding legal assessment.
As part of the investigation, the first arrests have already been made. In particular, a 23-year-old man was detained, who not only participated in the mass riots but also beat a police officer. Investigators are preparing charges against him under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty for these offenses may be up to 8 years of imprisonment.
How events unfolded on July 8
A large-scale conflict erupted on the evening of July 8. The cause of the clash was mobilization notification activities. According to local sources, hundreds of people gathered at the scene, blocking vehicles of the Territorial Recruitment and Mobilization Center (TRMC). Videos appeared on social media showing the department's vehicle being overturned.
Reaction of the country's leadership
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted promptly to the incident. The head of state called the attacks on military personnel unacceptable. A detailed report on the situation was presented to the President by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko. Currently, investigative actions are continuing, and law enforcement officers intend to identify all participants in the conflict.
