In the night of June 28, the capital of Ukraine was struck again. Russian occupiers launched several ballistic missiles towards Kyiv. At least seven powerful explosions were heard in the city, waking residents and causing alarm.
Consequences of the attack in the Darnytskyi district
As of 03:04 AM, the Darnytskyi district was the most affected. Tymur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported fires at several addresses. Fires broke out in close proximity to a residential building, as well as in a non-residential building and on the territory of an auto service station (ASO).
Casualties and destruction
Information about the consequences of the strike has already reached the civil defense headquarters. Currently, one injured person is known. Rescue services and firefighters are working at the fire sites to localize the flames and prevent further spread of the fire.
Context of escalation
This is not the first massive attack by ballistic missiles on the Ukrainian capital this year. The last time occupiers launched similar strikes was on June 15, using a combined tactic involving both missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. The current attack confirms that the threat of rocket shelling of Kyiv remains relevant.
