A tragedy has unfolded in Zaporizhzhia: Russian occupiers have struck at railway infrastructure and rolling stock. The incident occurred midday, when not only technical facilities but also people whose work ensures the movement of transport were caught in the zone of impact.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the attack led to serious consequences. As a result of the strike, a locomotive engineer was killed, and two other railway employees were injured. The injured are already receiving necessary medical assistance, but the cost of aggression proved too high.

The material damage is also significant: an electric locomotive and a diesel locomotive were damaged, which may affect the schedule of suburban and freight trains in the region. The enemy continues to deliberately destroy civilian infrastructure, ignoring international law norms.

Chronicle of Attacks on Railway Transport

This is not the first case of an attack on trains in Ukraine. In early March, in the Kryvyi Rih district of the Dnipropetrovsk region, a drone hit a carriage of a suburban train while it was moving — then one person was killed, and another ten were injured. On April 13, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the enemy struck near the locomotive of a freight train, but thanks to timely evacuation, no one was hurt.

On the night of May 30, Russians destroyed the station building in Shostka, Sumy region, with a direct hit from several dozen "Shahed" drones; the station infrastructure was also damaged — there were no casualties among passengers and workers. However, each new strike reminds us how vulnerable civilian objects are in wartime conditions.
