On the night of May 28, the sky over Ukraine once again became the arena for fierce confrontation. Russia launched a massive attempt to strike critical infrastructure, utilizing its entire arsenal of available means. According to the Air Force of Ukraine briefing, an aeroballistic missile "Kinzhal" and an unprecedented number of unmanned aerial vehicles were employed.

Massive strike from multiple directions

The enemy's strategy was refined to the smallest detail: the attack was launched simultaneously from several directions to overload air defense systems. The "Kinzhal" missile was launched from the territory of the Lipetsk region, demonstrating Russia's readiness to use long-range precision weapons. In parallel, 147 attack drones of various modifications were launched into the sky.

Streams of drones came from Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, as well as from the occupied territories of Crimea (Gvardiyskoye and Chauda). The enemy used both well-known Iranian Shaheds and Russian analogues — "Gerbera" and "Italmas", as well as jet UAVs.

Effectiveness of Ukrainian defenders

Ukrainian air defense systems operated at the limit of their capabilities. As of 08:00, the destruction or suppression of 138 enemy drones was recorded. This means that the overwhelming majority of the threat was neutralized before reaching the targets.

Nevertheless, it was impossible to completely avoid losses. A direct hit by a "Kinzhal" missile and nine attack drones was recorded at seven locations. Debris from shot-down equipment fell on six other objects, requiring the work of emergency rescue services.

Human casualties and the context of the conflict

The consequences of the strikes continue to be felt in the rear. In Kherson, in the Korabelny district, shells hit a playground. The tragedy claimed the lives of a man, a mother, and two little girls — aged three and six. These events vividly show that war has no borders and can affect even the most peaceful corners of life.

It is important to note that such attacks are becoming part of an overall strategy of pressure. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in correspondence with Donald Trump, described the details of the massive attack on May 24, where Russia used two hypersonic "Oreshnik" complexes, one of which reached the Kyiv region. Now the focus has shifted to the use of "Kinzhal" and mass drones, indicating a revision of tactics by the enemy.
