The Russian Federation has officially confirmed its intention to continue missile and drone attacks on the capital of Ukraine. The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine commented on this threat, calling it an open admission of terrorism.
This refers to a statement by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She not only confirmed that the strikes on Kyiv will continue but also announced the imminent release of a special warning for foreign diplomats working in the Ukrainian capital.
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the CCD, interpreted these words as a demonstration of the Kremlin's true intentions. In his opinion, this move is not accidental and has a clear political background related to the upcoming visit of Vladimir Putin to China.
Masking Weakness with Force
In recent days, Moscow created the appearance of readiness to end the conflict. However, before an important international visit, the rhetoric suddenly changed to aggressive. Kovalenko believes that this is an attempt to demonstrate strength when diplomatic levers no longer work.
Moreover, the expert pointed out a paradoxical situation: terror against the civilian population in Kyiv is unfolding against the backdrop of Russia's complete inability to ensure security on its own territory. Missiles are already reaching Moscow, and this has become a fact that the Kremlin is trying to hide behind loud threats.
"Putin is trying to mask his inability to ensure the security of Russia with terror against civilians. And all this he does instead of ending the war," emphasized the head of the CCD.
Scale of Attacks and Consequences
The words of Russian officials are backed by actions. On the night of May 24, an unprecedented strike was launched against Ukraine: 90 missiles and 600 drones, with the main blow hitting Kyiv. Advisor to the Minister of Defense Serhiy "Flash" Beskostnyi noted that the number of munitions exceeded the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defense to intercept them completely.
Alongside the analysis of the current threat, Ukrainian specialists are studying the consequences of the use of new weapons. All debris from the ballistic missile "Oreshnik," used for the first time against the Kyiv region, has been collected and handed over for expert analysis.
